COBI Tiger II Limited Edition: Winter Camouflage and the Westwall Diorama?

BloxxStar23.09.2026News

COBI is building anticipation again. On Facebook, the manufacturer has announced a new limited edition, writing simply: “Something BIG is coming…”. COBI doesn’t want to reveal much more officially just yet.

However, the teaser image released alongside the announcement already provides some pretty clear information.

It shows the silhouette of a heavy German tank, clearly recognizable as a Tiger II. At the bottom, COBI also lists the set number 2684, approximately 2,000 pieces, and a 1:28 scale.

This seems to confirm it: Following the previously announced “standard” editions of the new Tiger II—as we reported—the Königstiger is apparently also getting an extensive limited edition.

Tiger II in winter camouflage?

The real surprise comes from images currently circulating in the COBI community on Reddit.

One user has edited the heavily darkened teaser image, correcting the inverted colors, among other things. This is said to reveal significantly more details of the upcoming set.

Based on these images, there are strong indications that COBI might opt for a winter camouflage scheme for the Tiger II in this limited edition.

This would be a clear distinction from the regular versions and, at the same time, a classic approach for a limited edition: the actual vehicle is significantly enhanced by a special color scheme and additional elements.

However, it’s important to note that COBI itself has not yet officially confirmed the winter camouflage. The information currently is based on the official teaser and the images reconstructed or edited from it by the community.

A Piece of the Westwall as a Diorama?

The accessories appear to be at least as interesting as the Tiger II itself.

In addition to the tank, the teaser shows a larger built landscape or diorama base. A detail highlighted by COBI also reveals a gray concrete emplacement.

The details visible on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/user/Hydrargyrum-202/) suggest that the Limited Edition might include a section of the Westwall—that is, a small fortified position or diorama into which the Tiger II can be integrated.

If this is confirmed, it would be significantly more than the typical accessories included with many Limited Editions. Instead of simply including a few extra minifigures or a small plaque, COBI could create a real display piece centered around the tank.

The official teaser also shows several figures surrounding the model. Here, too, COBI has not yet specified an exact number or what they’ll include.

Approximately 2,000 parts in 1:28 scale

COBI has already officially listed some key details on the teaser:

Set number: COBI-2684
Pieces: approx. 2
,000 Scale: 1:28
Series: Historical Collection World War II
Edition: Limited Edition

With around 2,000 parts, the set is, as expected, significantly more extensive than a standard Tiger II model. A considerable portion of the additional pieces is therefore likely to go toward the diorama base, the potential Westwall position, and other accessories.

The size also aligns with COBI’s current line of large tank models: The Tiger II continues to be released in the 1:28 scale, which is popular among collectors.

Reddit is already discussing the gun mantlet

Meanwhile, the Reddit community isn’t just talking about the Limited Edition itself.

Some users are already discussing the shape and size of the gun mantlet and comparing it to the previously revealed standard edition of the new Tiger II. It remains to be seen whether COBI will make any changes to the model before its final unveiling or production.

Accordingly, the edited images should not be taken as a definitive representation of the final product.

COBI is still holding back the full reveal

COBI itself has remained deliberately mysterious so far. In its Facebook post, the manufacturer merely announces a major new premiere and challenges the community to guess what’s coming next.

However, given the published image, the matter isn’t quite as secretive as it once was.

Based on the teaser, it seems very clear that COBI-2684 is a limited edition of the new Tiger II. What remains particularly exciting is what the final winter camouflage will look like, how extensive the Westwall section will actually be, and what accessories COBI will include with the set.

The price and release date are also still unknown.

The Tiger II Limited Edition could be a real showpiece

If the details currently circulating are confirmed, COBI’s Limited Edition could offer significantly more than just a differently printed version of the new Tiger II.

Winter camouflage, multiple figures, and a dedicated diorama featuring a section of the Westwall would turn the Königstiger into a complete display set.

Since we’ve already reported on the standard editions of the new Tiger II, this is likely to be the most interesting variant for collectors yet.

As soon as COBI officially unveils the Limited Edition in its entirety and releases further details about COBI-2684, we’ll be sure to report on it.

See you next time!
