I’ll admit it: As a kid, I was completely obsessed with those old, wonderfully cheesy Godzilla movies—people in rubber suits stomping through papier-mâché model cities and knocking down skyscrapers. It’s precisely this endearing B-movie charm that has stayed with me to this day, and stories like these and nerd-friendly content are just part of who I am. That’s why I’m all the more excited that rumors about an official LEGO Godzilla set are really starting to gain traction—even if LEGO itself remains silent.
Origin: A Fan Design Wins on LEGO Ideas
The set is based on a fan design by community member MattE720, submitted in late December 2023 and successfully approved by the LEGO Ideas review team with over 10,000 supporters. The design was approved in the summer of 2025 along with the Tintin Moon Rocket set—and ever since then, it’s been certain: an official Godzilla set is coming. But for a long time, it remained unclear when and in what form.

Where the Rumors Come From
The first concrete details came from the Reddit community: User General_Durian_1013, citing sources ac_bricks_03 and tandnbricks, published initial information about the set number and release date. Shortly thereafter, the leak account Carterbricks04, active on Instagram and X, provided further details on the number of pieces and the price. Most recently, an infographic from the rumor account Brick Tap also surfaced; it cites “verified anonymous sources” and essentially confirms the previous leaks while also adding new details such as the exact model height.

Set Number, Number of Pieces, and Price
According to several corroborating sources, the set is expected to be numbered 21375 and contain approximately 5,364 pieces—which would make Godzilla one of the largest LEGO Ideas sets ever released. As for the price, a figure around $450 is increasingly emerging, even though earlier leaks ranged from $400 to $600. Notably, even the leak sources themselves explicitly emphasize that the prices are “still very much in flux” and subject to change.
Design: MonsterVerse Instead of Toho
The model appears to be not a classic Toho version, but the modern Legendary MonsterVerse Godzilla with its characteristic blue spines—specifically the version from Legendary’s second film, “King of the Monsters.” According to current leaks, the finished figure is expected to be around 55–60 cm tall. Features include a movable head with a tongue and a removable “Atomic Breath” beam. Minifigures are not included.
A Possible First Teaser in LEGO Magazine
In early summer 2026, a two-page poster in the summer issue of the official LEGO Magazine—which was actually intended to promote new City and Speed Champions vehicles—sparked further speculation. However, in the background of the poster, a massive, Godzilla-like silhouette can be seen on the horizon—an observant Reddit user was the first to spot the scene and interpreted it as a possible intentional teaser. It cannot be confirmed whether the magazine’s team was actually aware of the Ideas set, but the timing is certainly noteworthy.
Release Date: Black Friday Instead of Godzilla Day?
Previously, two possible dates were circulating: the official “Godzilla Day” on November 3 or Black Friday. The more recent leaks now clearly point to November 27, 2026—Black Friday 2026.
Free Gift (GWP)
Several independent sources consistently mention a possible bonus included with purchase: a Godzilla footprint featuring a printed Mothra design.
Conclusion
The more independent leak sources with similar details emerge—from Reddit to Instagram insiders to the Brick-Tap infographic—the more likely the set seems. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet, and LEGO itself has not commented so far. Until that happens, it’s all just speculation. As soon as that changes, we’ll post an update here.
