🧱 About Me – How I Became Jörn BloxxStar
Building blocks have actually been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Even as a child, I preferred playing with LEGO to most other toys. I especially loved building entire LEGO cities—with streets, houses, vehicles, and everything that goes with them.
It was probably no coincidence that roads played such a big role in this: My father was a road construction foreman. Back then, there was even a LEGO set with traffic signs in my back-to-school goodie bag. 🚧
These memories are especially precious to me today, because my father, sadly, passed away far too soon.
But I share a second great passion with him:
Star Wars. 🌌
I used to watch Star Wars with my father when I was a child. That’s why, to this day, that galaxy far, far away means more to me than just movies, spaceships, and lightsabers. It’s also tied to memories of the time we spent together.
🌌 When Two Passions Came Together
Then, in 1999, something momentous happened:
LEGO Star Wars hit the market.
Suddenly, my two great passions collided head-on.
Maybe that’s also why I never went through the famous “Dark Ages” that many adult LEGO fans talk about. Instead of giving up the hobby at some point, LEGO Star Wars actually kicked off my collecting in earnest.
To this day, my focus as a collector remains primarily on LEGO and LEGO Star Wars.
And that’s exactly how my name came about later on:
Bloxx 🧱 = building blocks
Star ⭐ = Star Wars
Put together:
BloxxStar.
💡 “Tell people on the internet.”
Over the years, however, I didn’t just accumulate a lot of LEGO.
I’ve also gathered knowledge.
About sets, manufacturers, Star Wars, historic vehicles, airplanes, ships, technology, and the stories behind the models.
And I had quite a lot to say about it all.
At some point, my wife at the time said to me:
“Jörn, you know so much that you could share. But don’t tell me—tell the people on the internet.”
That line stuck with me.
And on May 13, 2019, that idea finally became the YouTube channel BloxxStar. 🎥
Ever since then, I’ve basically been doing exactly that:
I build and tell stories.
Because I’m not just interested in whether a building block set looks good. I also want to know the story behind it.
That’s why at BloxxStar, we say:
“Speed Build time is fact time.” 📚
As the model takes shape, I share background info, technical details, history, and facts about the real-life model it’s based on.
🧱 Collecting and Building
Today, my passion has two sides.
In my personal life, I’m primarily a collector of LEGO and LEGO Star Wars.
For BloxxStar, however, I build and showcase a wide variety of snap-together building sets. My two main manufacturers are LEGO and COBI.
COBI, in particular, with its historical vehicles, airplanes, and ships, is a perfect fit for my enthusiasm for history and technology.
But if another manufacturer releases an exciting set, I’m of course happy to look beyond my usual horizons as well. 👀
❤️ And then came Hedda
In 2020, I got to know and love Hedda—aka Klemmbausteinlady.
And how could it be any different for us?
We shared one big hobby right from the start:
LEGO. 🧱❤️
Since then, this passion for building blocks hasn’t just been my story—it’s become a part of our life together.
It even got to the point where we moved into a bigger apartment—in part so that BloxxStar could finally have a room of his own.
Today, that room is filled with built sets and pieces from my collection. It’s also my building space and studio, where new BloxxStar videos are created every week. 🎬
So what started on the floor as a child now actually has a room of its own.
🇩🇰 LEGO-crazy? Definitely.
At this point, at the very latest, you might suspect that we take LEGO perhaps just a tiny bit too seriously.
But we provided the definitive proof in February 2026:
We got married in Billund. ❤️💍🧱
Of all places, right where the story of LEGO began.
For us, there could hardly have been a more fitting place.
Looking back today, it’s truly amazing to see how far these little bricks have come.
From the LEGO cities of my childhood and the traffic sign set in my back-to-school goodie bag, to shared Star Wars moments with my dad, all the way to LEGO Star Wars, BloxxStar, Hedda, my very own BloxxStar room, and finally our wedding in Billund.
💻 And why this website?
After all these years, there’s now a wealth of BloxxStar knowledge.
It’s in videos, research, notes, spreadsheets—and, admittedly, quite a bit of it is still in my head. 😉
That’s why this website is meant to become the digital home of BloxxStar.
A central hub for sets, manufacturers, models, historical background, videos, facts, and everything else that has accumulated over the years.
At the same time, it’s meant to serve as a tool for my daily work: for researching, collecting, linking, and retrieving information for new videos.
The BloxxStar Room is my physical home for models and videos.
This website is meant to be the digital home for the knowledge behind it all. 🌐
Because whether it’s on YouTube or here:
🧱 I want to build.
⭐ I want to collect.
🔎 I want to research.
📖 And above all, I want to tell the stories behind the bricks.
After all, the story of BloxxStar is far from finished.
